Twinkle twinkle little tree

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here.

The first thing you’ll see when you walk into my house these days is this adorable Christmas tree twinkling away in my living room. I was worried that I wouldn’t have a Christmas tree for my new place’s housewarming / X’mas party this year, because we accidentally threw our old one out when we were shifting houses two weeks ago…. And I honestly cannot find the time to go X’mas tree hunting and buy the decorations / accessories needed. I have an old gelish manicure that’s needed removing for over a month now and I still haven’t got it done! What a crazy end of year period it’s been for me. Haven’t had time to breathe, let alone shopping.

It couldn’t have been more perfect when http://www.65emall.com/ delivered this pretty 1.5m Christmas tree right to my doorstep just a few days ago!

I don’t even have to buy any ornaments to decorate this contemporary tree with because it comes with flashy built-in fiber optics… which are those rad colorful lights you’ll find all over the tree! It doesn’t get hot even after a whole night’s usage, so there’s no concern about it overheating (a common problem with these sorta things!)

It glows in different bright colors – white, blue, yellow, green, red and even has a button on the stand which you can press to switch the frequency and pattern of which the colored lights blink. It’s way brighter in real life than in pictures!

I adore how it’s white-tipped to give the illusion of a white Christmas. It’s definitely not traditional, I know there’s nothing quite like a real Christmas tree, but hey, who are we kidding? We don’t have snow here in Singapore, people don’t go around caroling and people’s houses aren’t decorated with fairy lights like in other countries…. so having a practical option that I can re-use year after year, one that won’t need cleaning up and disposing of after every December ends, makes sense to me. Besides, every guest that has seen our tree so far has found the colorful lights very fascinating!

Sitting underneath my X’mas tree is a hamper from Tupperware SG… Thank you for sending over more awesome home ware products that will make my new place even more comfortable and practical to live in! Once I started using Tupperware products for storing my cooking, I’ve never looked back on other alternatives because the quality is just so much better. Can’t wait for my friends & loved ones to start visiting me in my home and for more presents to pile underneath my tree!!!

It’s not too late to get your own Christmas tree yet! It will be no party without a tree. http://www.65emall.com/ is selling this 1.5m fiber optics tree at $79, inclusive of delivery to your home. They have other types of trees and decorations available too, so check out their Christmas collection here!

I love all the parties, festivities, the buzzing build up of celebrations & decorations leading all the way to the 25th of December. It’s usually more fun than the actual day itself, which is actually more quiet than one would expect based on all the hype throughout the month, don’t you think? Based on my own experiences, anyway!

I hope you guys have a great X’mas this year, even if you’re not religious (I’m not). I do believe Christmas is for everyone to appreciate, regardless of your beliefs :)

What’s your fashion mood this month?

I love shopping.. ✓
I looove surprises ✓
AND I love receiving bulky parcels at my doorstep because it feels like Christmas! ✓

When the mood box from Her Velvet Vase arrived at my home, all of the above fell into place for me. Inside the box contained beauty-related goodies and super cute outfits all planned and styled by the HVV team! You’ll be pleasantly taken aback by just how many items they manage to squeeze into one large box! ;)

So what is the mood box, and how it does it work?

Think along the lines of a monthly beauty subscription box concept, but instead of only cosmetic products, you can expect all things fashion fabulous in the mood box – dresses, tops, skirts, bottoms, accessories, make up and more, sourced out and delivered to your very doorstep by HVV!

Choose from 3 different options of varying values that will best suit your needs & style – I went for Option number 1!

After deciding on Option 1, I had to fill out a little customization form to let HVV know what kind of fashion mood I was in and my size specifications –  to my surprise, the HVV team nailed my style completely. Two separate outfits were customized for me, 1 dress + 1 accessory each.

Here’s how I styled the outfits I got from my mood box:

I wanted something white / red colored with prints, the general theme being sparkly / elegant for my end of year events & festivities… and boom.

Super cute bright looking tube dress coupled with a metallic silver floppy clutch which I totally adore! I love the loud floral prints on this dress!

I was a little worried about not being able to fitt / not really liking the clothes from my mood box at first, but felt relieved when I found out that 1) you can exchange the items from your mood box if they are really not suitable, and 2) you can also specify in the comments section things you specifically do not want. As I’m bottom heavy and prefer flair dresses to emphasize a smaller waist line, I made sure to let HVV know that, and they understood my concerns completely.

My next outfit was a more wearable, everyday kinda sundress you’d find me in regardless of the time of the year.. paired with a big, floppy sunhat to shield me from the sweltering Singapore sun!

This pretty in peach maxi dress with peekaboo sheer details would be my choice for a girly brunch session, a weekend date with my boyfriend or just simply for being out and about in! I prefer to keep my style understated and simple (and practical if I may admit), so this works on many levels for me.

Don’t you think the concept of a surprise mood box would make a great gift for Christmas? It’s like buying a girl new clothes (our favorite thing!!!) without needing to rack your brains to figure out their style. Surprises make the best presents in my opinion.

In the spirit of giving, Her Velvet Vase is offering a mini mood box giveaway to one lucky reader of mine!! What you simply have to do:

1) Follow @HerVelvetVase on Instagram
2) Like and comment on my outfit pic on @HerVelvetVase Instagram

The winner will be announced on 11th December. A specially put together HVV mood box is guaranteed to put a smile on any girl’s face! :)

SINGSALE: Flash Frenzy discounts for only 3 days!

noun
humorous
  1. 1.
the practice of shopping in order to make oneself feel more cheerful.

I have bad hair days, I have bad mood days…. but there’s no bad day a little shopping couldn’t help make better. Everyday is a darn swell day for shopping! I wouldn’t exactly call myself an excessively materialistic person. I’d like to think I still uphold sentimental value higher than superficial things, but let’s just I’d rather be crying in a limousine than on a bicycle. Am I a shopaholic? HELL YEAH, LOUD AND PROUD!

I don’t have an excuse for myself. And I really don’t believe I need one, anyway. To each their own! Some people like cats, some people like golf.. me, I love buying nice things for myself. Sometimes I buy things that are way too pricey for what it’s worth, but I purchase it anyway because just knowing this pretty thing now belongs to me, makes me happy. But hold on. Just because I’m willing to spend, doesn’t mean I’m not always on a constant look out for discounts and good deals! Have you ever met a girl friend who sees four letters spelling “S A L E” in a mall and automatically gravitates towards it immediately?

Yep, that’s me. I’m drawn towards it like two opposite ends of a magnet.

What if I told you, you could shop over 1000 brands across 8 categories; Ladieswear, Childrenswear, Menswear, Homeware, Toys, Health & Beauty, Footwear and Accessories offering up to 100,000 different styles online at any one time… all at the convenience of sitting in your computer chair, leisurely clicking away on your mouse?! :D Forget about squeezing with the annoying crowds in shopping malls.

You’ll have a discounted shopping empire soon to be at your fingertips!

SINGSALE is part of the largest shopping club in Australasia, APACSALE Group; which operates an online clearance channel for the biggest global brands, across four different continents. APACSALE is the first to create an innovative online shopping destination in six countries where they sell the biggest brands for the best prices to their private membership database.

SINGSALE will be holding a Flash Frenzy, the biggest online shopping event ever: for 3 days only, starting on Nov 2nd 2013, offering over 150 BIG brand names during these 3 days.

Discounts are up to a whopping 80% off original retail pricing!!!!!

Expect popular staples in the fashion / beauty industry and some of my own personal favorites: Coach, Nike, Revlon, OPI, Emporio Armani, French Connection (I looove their clothes!), Bally, Hugo Boss, Pumpkin Patch, Marc Jacobs, Puma, Diesel and lots more!

Hear these words from a sale lurker…. I know the crappiest thing about sales is that the best deals always get snapped up too fast and it feels like by the time you actually get around to it, all the good stuff’s gone, and only weird apparels in too small / large sizes are left. Right?

But what SINGSALE is gonna do will make this game fair and square for everyone: New stocks & brands will be launched on the site almost every hour! I know nobody has the time to sit at the computer all day just to refresh a website, but fret not… they have a convenient mobile application available for download on your smartphone for easy access to the best bargains all day!

If you’re as absent minded as me, you’ll want to sign up as their member to receive regular updates so you won’t miss out on your favorite brands, wherever you are.

UNLEASH YOUR INNER SHOPAHOLIC!!! SET THE DEMONS FREE :P

And of course, the cherry on top of this whole thing is…. I have 10 SGD vouchers to give away, to 100 of you lovely people. Yeah, isn’t reading my blog pretty awesome? Just key in this code, “BLOGGERSG610″ upon check out to enjoy $10 off your purchases, with a minimum spending of 50 SGD.
With that, I leave you with your willpower and credit card at the ready… By no means am I trying to encourage anybody to splurge until they break the bank, but hey, sales are ALWAYS a good idea to me. Shopping, to me, is kinda like an investment. You look good, you feel food. *true story* You can always earn the money back, but when are you ever going to find that purse or dress you’ve always wanted being sold for half the price again? I like my money exactly where I can see it everyday: hanging in my closet.
