Reelity Showdown at Genting Highlands!

Thanks to the folks at Reelity.tv, Nuffnang Singapore and Resorts World Genting, I had the opportunity to go on a trip to Genting Highlands again despite just being there in end June this year!!!

All of the awesome bloggers I had the privilege of traveling with!!!  L-R: Benjamin (roomie), Juli, Beatrice (roomie), Jayme, Myself, Diana (team mate), Amanda and Ziwei! I miss everyone on this trip :’) Everyone got along super well and we shared food, laughter, hotel rooms and even secrets despite most of us being strangers when we first stepped into the coach bus to Genting together.
I had a fantastic time the last trip in June, Sam went along with me and we went to the theme park, had AMAZING food at various restaurants, visited a freaky haunted house and strawberry farm and one of the highlights was literally FLYING in an indoor skydiving tunnel at First World Plaza. Read my 2 part travelogue on Genting Highlands here: Part 1, Part 2. They are picture intensive entries, and this one isn’t much different!

However this time, my objective at Genting wasn’t just to explore its grounds, but also to take part in filming for Reelity Showdown!

Omfg you’ll never guess it but the blue hooded monster in this promotional banner above is actually me. LOLOL HELLOOOO FUGLY.

Reelity TV is a cool website that lets you watch several hilarious online shows all produced locally. Reelity Showdown itself is about online personalities / bloggers battling against each other with random tasks the producers throw at them. The idea is to WIN and be the ultimate champion, of course! Nuffnang has chosen 4 bloggers and 4 participants to pair up in teams of 2 and take each other on as we partake in wildly INSANE tasks around various parts of Genting. It was CRAY CRAYYY and I am soooo excited just thinking about the first episode being released!!! Have you ever wanted to see me attempt stupid looking tasks and fail miserably? Well your wish just came true. Catch me in the yet to be released new season of Reelity Showdown, only on ReelityTV.com!!! Our season airs 30th November, 2012, so keep a look out for it!

Or, read on to the end of the post where I have embedded the video! I bet I look wonderfully bonkers and totes unglamorous as we get mercilessly tortured by the producers and their masochist ideas, but who cares!!! The show will be so much fun to watch! My suffering, for your entertainment. I can’t reveal too much information just yet, but this post will show you some exciting teasers about the time us bloggers & the filming crew spent at Genting Highlands! ;)
On our way there.. 7 hours on a bus together is a lot of time to get to know each other better! Had the whole bus to ourselves, much to my delight, I don’t like the weird stares from strangers I get every time I hop onto the bus.
Seating behind me is Juli, a beauty blogger. She’s so petite and cute!!! You will never guess her age coz she maintain super well wtf. She is actually significantly older, but probably looks even younger than me.
Having a girly chit chat with my roomie, Beatrice, after we checked in at First World Hotel! Got to know her better during this trip since we’d talk about random stuff every night before we fell asleep, like places we wanna travel to and our relationships with our boyfriends… she is such a sweet, sweet girl! Hardworking and beautiful to boot. What a gem.

We didn’t do very/ much the first day after arrival because everyone was exhausted from the long traveling from Singapore besides being treated to this nice meal at Genting Palace restaurant:
So after dinner, we decided to have an early night and woke up early the next morning to commence filming!!

All of Reelity Showdown’s contestants gathered at the Outdoor Theme Park waiting to start our first challenge! We took the challenges very seriously because teams will be eliminated one by one. Game face onnn, beeyotch.
That is my game face btw. LOL I am the ultimate photo bomber in group pics!
I wish I could tell you guys about the challenges but I’m not supposed to spoil too much leh. All I can say is the first challenge involved the outdoor theme park and this ride in particular – pirate ship!!!
Proudly brought to you by Ziwei Sandy, I post her face big big on my blog because she was so kind as to send me many pics we took from Genting :P
A shot of us together
Huge thanks also to Diana, Benjamin and Beatrice for sending me your pictures for me to use too!!!! ♥ Especially Benjamin who took the time to do so even though he was in Taiwan haha. And Diana for sending me the very next day omg. So if you find that the picture sizing / cropping / colors is a little all over the place, its because I’m using pictures from 5 different cameras, lol.
My chosen outfit of the day.
I thought the Penguin shirt would be rather apt because Genting gets quite cold towards the end of the year but it was in fact very warm that afternoon and a few of us got sunburnt. Cheat me one!!!
This is my team mate, Diana!!!! She was an awesome companion throughout the trip, and humored me all the way as I told her lame jokes after another lame joke. She’s so easy to talk to!

Its amazing how much 2 girls can bond over 5 days.

We took the initiative and gave ourselves a group name for easy identification………. And it’s called….. *drumroll*

Jedi.
Because Jessica, and Diana. LOL I see a face palm incoming.
My face after finding out what the challenge was for the day. You’ll just have to stay tuned to see why I was so upset…. @_@
Another teaser of the challenge!!!!! Can you guess what we’re trying to achieve yet?

My sneakers were brand new from H&M’s sale and it gave me a lot of problems during first day of filming coz they hurt so much when I walked! Thank goodness I got it fixed (with a lot of plaster and tissue paper stuffing donated by people) other wise the other teams might have to give me a handicap due to my limping, lol.
Team Jedi after the first challenge looking quite pleased with themselves because they did well!!! (first round anyway..)

So far, so good! #notbad.jpg face.

The second and third challenges were unfortunately not a piece of cake. The second was WTF and the third one was REALLY WTF. As you can tell from their expressions, they were next in line for the challenge hahaha!!!

We had helmet cameras attached to our head to capture our every word uttered and epic facial expressions during the big drop on Space Shot. One of the bloggers actually cried (cannot say who!!) because she was so terrified of the ride…. Poor thing!!!! The ride is really very scary indeed, especially if you’re not comfortable with heights O_O

But I can’t wait to watch that part on video LOLOL #evilfriend

Oh hai Typicalben and Diana!
Us taking group shots inbetween filming segments. I realized filming takes so much more effort than a photo shoot. I thought photos were difficult because you had to set up lighting, pose, do make up, change outfits… for filming you have to do all of that and more and it often takes the whole damn day!!!! We were all knackered by the end of filming day 1.

One day down, three more to go!

Happily walking back to our hotel rooms…. and Beatrice trying to bite my hand off for some reason. She must be hungry!
She need not worry too much because dinner was SUCH a spread. I cannot stress enough how the people at Resorts World Genting never fails to spoil their bloggers every single time!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

You would have realized this if you read my previous posts on Genting, and you will realize it again now.

Our beautiful dinner at Imperial Rama to reward ourselves for a tough day of filming. Thai green curry, wasabi / salted egg prawns, steamed fish and so much more.
Imperial Rama is my favorite place to eat at Genting and I dare say, one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to in my life. It serves astounding Thai-Chinese fusion food… check out more pictures of their yummylicious food as I review their food in my Genting Post 1! Over the moon that they served their famous durian tempura this time around, I’d been raving to everyone about it prior to this meal and most of them LOVED the fried crispy durian custard dessert too.
After a sumptuous meal at Imperial Rama, it was time for a luxurious spa treatment at M Spa & Fitness..
And the girls, Juli and Ziwei couldn’t be any more excited ;)
I was filled with so much happiness that night,  almost on the embarrassing brink of tears… because I got to have TWO of my favorite things one after the other in a single night!!! Imperial Rama + M Spa I MUST HAVE WENT TO HEAVEN instead of Genting. Not even exaggerating….. it doesn’t take a lot to make me really happy!
The last time Sam and I did a very unique Hot and Cold Stone massage in a couple’s room, this time I went for a full body Swedish massage which was utter bliss.
M Spa Stress away was the package I chose!

My therapist was not only polite and professional, but she managed to give me a gentle massage while still exerting enough force to take away the stress out of my shoulders and back, my main problem areas. I really don’t appreciate forceful massages that make me feel WORSE after the treatment. The coach ride and long filming day had tired me out so much I fell asleep during the massage…. and felt much more relaxed when I woke up!

No more aching back and muscles! If you ever visit Genting, you have to trust me when I say Imperial Rama and M Spa are world class attractions you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find at Genting Highlands.

Second day of filming – GO!!!!
Typicalben, Shiberty and BeatriceTan are ready for battle! :P
I quite fancy the weather in Genting actually – it only drizzles and hardly rains for long and its always cool + sunny!!! Makes for good photos.

Filming location this time was at Bubbles & Bites – a relatively new Western food restaurant and it was my first time here!

Their food was surprisingly reasonably priced and Yummmeeh. To satisfy your red meat and pasta craving in Genting, this is the place to look for.

Their cute in house crossword puzzle decor on the wall!
Of course, if our shoot set was at a restaurant, naturally, our challenge had to involve FOOD… and we were forewarned it was going to be messy, and mildly embarrassing. Messy, it was. Embarrassing? A little, for some. Most important…… was it funny? Absolutely!!
Let’s just say I never ever want to work in a restaurant. EVER.
Even as a participant I couldn’t help laughing at the plight of the other contestants!
A lot of waiting around had to be done as we waited for the filming crew to set up, so us bloggers do what we do best. Camhoes are out to play!!!

These two bloggers are ridiculously good looking.
And also ridiculously fun to hang out with. ☻
When we’re not busy being bloggers, some of us try to be models. LOL. Wait actually Beatrice actually is one, oops…
LOVE this shot of us!!! Everyone looks so good and the lighting is perf!
Had some time to walk around and go shopping at First World Plaza as filming ended early that particular day and I bought more items than I’d prepared enough Ringgit for!! Debit card to the rescue! Genting actually has a fair bit of Cheaper-Than-Singapore shopping for you to do – I bought a stack of Sasa masks at ONLY $1 each – whatta steal.
I would never allow myself near an actual credit card…. I know myself too well.

Went back to the hotel to nap after I shopped to my hearts content and checked on the others as they were filming! We happened to finish our segment earlier than the rest so we had the free time to do whatever we want.

Someone taking a picture of me taking a picture of something.

Joshua and Finn working the cameras!

KPO-ing behind the scenes!!!!

Noel Boyd is Reelity Showdown’s host, and that’s Rudy, being the sound guy… Build those arm muscles, boy!

Pretty desserts and a pretty girl. LOL wait, what did I just say??
The girls goofing around during buffet dinner time!!!
With our awesome Nuffnang managers, Gabby the hot babe with violet hair on the left and Jayne the cutie pie on the right. :)

Big L.♥.V.E for them pretties!!!~~~~

Ohhh Diana you crack me up so much. This is our #secret #handsign, do not even bother trying to ask what it means because we will not tell you. It’s actually a pretty stupid inside joke but it makes me laugh EVERY TIME Diana does this hand sign and looks at me!!!

What do you mean I look stupid?

With Joshua Ang, director of Reelity TV. You might recognize him as a child actor from Xiao Hai Bu Ben / We Not Stupid / We Not Naughty, some absolutely funny local films that were mad popular back in its time. This job is perfect for him (I think) since he has so much experience with movies and filming!

The filming crew were very nice and patient with us the whole time. Not too overly demanding as it could easily become. It was funny seeing him in real life as opposed to on screen. Speaking of which I think I might go download those films to watch again, I LOVED We Not Stupid. Coincidentally enough he’s the boyfriend of a pretty girl named Clara whom I know through Nuffnang since 2008. Singapore is so darn small!

The gang unwinding by having some beers and screaming along to popular songs. KTV-ing is obviously one of my favorite hobbies! ;)

At Genting, one large room like this was only 25 RM per person. Can you say… CHEAP!!! Singapore KTV why you so expensive? Just one room and a stereo system only what :(( But still we get charged like $50+ for 2 people.

The last activity highlight we experienced at Genting Highlands after filming was completed, is the newly revamped multi-million dollar Snow World! It was closed for renovation for about a year and the new version looks sooo pretty. Perfect for touristy shots, especially intriguing for people who have not been to snowing countries before I suppose!

Couldn’t be bothered with make up on the last day so I woke up, put my hair in a ponytail and headed out immediately. Ziwei’s all like “GET YO ASS HERE” and I’m like “Wait!! Still zipping!!!”

Suited up and ready to freeze our faces off, early in the morning. As soon as I stepped into Snow World I was like “OH MY GODDDDD COLD COLD COLD” and couldn’t really manage to utter any more sense than that. This was MUCH colder than Singapore’s snow city as far as I can remember…

OoooOoooO psychedelic lights!!! Almost resemble an aurora in the arctic circle. I said almost.

Team Jedi having fun at Snow World!

It was difficult climbing those steps in the boots and trying not to slip on slippery ice, so watch your step. Its like they’re going for a European winter feel with the decorations!

I know I complain about Singapore’s weather on a regular basis, but truth be told, I’d still take Singapore’s scorching heat over this unbearable cold any day. Unless I am on holiday with my family during Christmas then I wouldn’t mind if it snowed.

Otherwise… I might just die.

Seeking refuge in a warm igloo!

Pretty lights and soft snow at our feet!!! :) To a Singaporean, it was some kind of magic.

People said Snow World would be dirty but I didn’t find that was the case at all! It was a very pretty place to be, although there isn’t a whole lot to do besides stand around & be cold and take pictures of the uniquely decorated surroundings.

Thank you Resorts World Genting for hosting yet another fabulous trip at Genting Highlands!!!!

And Reelity TV for having us star in the highly anticipated web series, Reelity Showdown.

I just hope they were kind and didn’t use TOO ugly footage of me. A bit or some ugly is okay, too much ugly and I might just bury a hole in the ground and go live in it, lol. Even if you’re not interested in watching me on the show *glares* there’s plenty of other female (and 1 male) eye candy bloggers for you to ogle at.

….SO!!!!
ARE YOU READY TO WATCH THE NEW EPISODE OF REELITY SHOWDOWN?

Reelity Showdown Genting Ep.1
from reelitytv on Vimeo.

Each team had to keep a tall heavy cup full of water steady in our hands while spilling as little as possible throughout several bumpy and slippery Genting Outdoor Theme Park rides!!! It’s really not as simple as it looks, I promise you. Thank god the next challenge is indoors and relatively simpler! And yes, I am a clumsy doofus. T___T I also scream extremelyyyy loud….. It was a wild wild ride in Genting, what can I say? I guess I got thirsty.

Remember to tune into Reelity TV next week for a brand new episode! Where we take stupid, funny and crazy to a whole new level. ;) Perhaps I’ll make a worthwhile comeback to redeem myself to you viewers……… lol.

If you’re looking for a cool weathered, fun-filled place with lots of good food and exciting activities for couples or the whole family, do consider planning a trip to Genting Highlands! A place where you can experience a bit of snow, a sunny day, some New York City vibes, asian culture, western food, an outdoor and indoor theme park all in one day.

It’s not too far away from Singapore, and yet some times, when I’m there I feel like a whole world away from home. I always have a good time there. :)

Cooking tutorial: Lemon & Dill Baked Salmon

I have to admit, all my previous recipe posts have not been particularly healthy, or diet-friendly.

But let’s ALSO admit that most yummy food…. is not healthy!!! At the top of my head, I recall giving you guys recipes for fudgey brownies, homemade gourmet burgers, spinach feta quiches…. Oopsie daisy! I often get questions on Formspring about what kind of food I ate when I was on a rather strict low-carbohydrate diet, so today, here’s a guilt-free recipe that’s perfect for all you calorie & carb watchers. If you love the king of fishes, Salmon, like I do.. you’re in for a treat.

Although I don’t miss being on a diet any more, I do miss how I felt when I was dieting & eating guilt-free food such as soups and grilled chicken. The meal could be only relatively satisfying in terms of taste, but deep down inside I felt really proud and good about myself for being disciplined / concerned about my own health, and for making the right decisions. I realized that you can’t out-exercise a bad diet. Eating healthy good food must be one of the best feelings in the world!!!

After eating this delicious and wonderfully simple dill-herbed salmon with a slight lemony zesty kick to it…

I’m sure you’ll feel the same way. ♥ If I look up the word “mouthwatering” in the dictionary, I just know there is a picture of this very salmon dish plastered on the page.

Good salmon, to me, shouldn’t be overly marinated because you’re tearing the attention away from the natural slightly sweet, buttery taste of the soft pink salmon flesh. And it definitely must NOT be overcooked!!! Dry and hard overcooked salmon is so offensive to me. Equally as offensive as when I ask for a medium rare steak, and it comes close to well done. It simply cannot be accepted. An animal had to die for that, and overcooking its meat is how you honor it?!

This is how I always prepare my salmon fillets. It’s refreshingly fuss-free with only 2 minutes preparation time, and even if you’ve never cooked before you will be able to manage this! I’m going to break it down into 10 super easy and straightforward steps for you guys to follow.

YOU WILL NEED: (this recipe serves 1)
♥ — 1 salmon fillet
♥ — sprigs of fresh dill
♥ — 1 lemon
♥ — 1/2 tablespoon onion / garlic powder, or your favorite all-purpose seasoning
♥ — black pepper
♥ — sea salt
♥ — paprika powder

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 180 degrees. Yes you’re going to be baking it of course, there is nothing healthy about frying a piece of salmon that is naturally fatty & oily to begin with!

Step 2: Place the salmon on a greased baking tray or a pan lined with baking paper, skin side down. It is on a plate in the picture for photography purposes.

Step 3: Make 1-inch deep incisions along the thicker parts of the salmon fillet with a knife, as depicted above. Leave the thinner parts alone. The incisions are to ensure the salmon meat cooks more evenly, despite its odd shape.

Step 4: Squeeze juice of half a lemon onto the salmon. Reserve the other half for garnishing.

Step 5: Season generously with cracked black pepper and sea salt, to your own taste. I recommend about 1/2 teaspoon of each spice. Please don’t use powdered white pepper or table salt, it just won’t taste the same.

Step 6: Add 1/2 tablespoon of onion / garlic powder, or your favorite all-purpose spice blend.

Step 7: Lightly sprinkle paprika on top for an extra pop of color and taste.

Step 8: Finish off by placing crumbled sprigs of fresh dill on top of the salmon. As much as you like!

Step 9:  Bake in oven at 180 degrees for 23 minutes or until your preferred doneness, depending on the size of your salmon fillet. I advise to check on it once its past the 20 minute mark. I normally don’t leave it to marinate, I just bake it immediately, although you can leave it for an hour to marinate more if you like.

Step 10: Immediately transfer salmon fillet onto a plate once removed from oven to prevent further cooking. Garnish with more sprigs of fresh dill, lemon and cherry tomatoes for that perfect vivid color combination!

And finally…. Dig in!!!!!

.
.
.
.

Now was that easy, or was that totally easy? :)

It is an extremely healthy protein-filled meal that takes literally no time to prepare at all. And it is FREAKIN DELICIOUS! The salmon just melts in your mouth…. and the herby flavor from the dill goes so well together!! Don’t worry about the lemon making it taste sour – it is not sour at all. You will only taste a subtle refreshing hint of lemon juice when biting into the pink flesh. The simplicity of this dish is what I like most about it. Even my boyfriend who doesn’t really eat fish, eats a lot of this whenever I make it! Pretty much everyone who has tried it has loved it so far. This is undoubtedly one of my most frequently used recipes of all time, and I hope it becomes one of yours too. Try it and let me know.

Serve together with roasted potatoes, or quinoa / cous cous / a side salad if you’re feeling health conscious enough.

Enjoy.

Out with the old, in with the new

Hello.

Yes, I’m still alive, breathing and kicking.. after 2 weeks of not updating my blog. Here’s a hastily picture of me taken in a cab 2 days ago as evidence. Sorry for my disappearance. Don’t be mad at me.

Here’s a cute little Maltese puppy to beg for your forgiveness.

…No? Not good enough?

How about a cute puppy giving a cute girl a cute kiss on the cheek? That oughta do it.

Her name is Knuckles btw. She belongs to my previous high school teacher.

As you should know, I’ve been deadly busy with all the moving houses and stuff… finally, this end week feels a little bit more sane with some time to myself, and I look forward to days of doing nothing in December because I feel like I’ve had too many things to do for too long a time!

In actual fact I don’t have the time to blog in the first place but I feel bad enough for leaving this space untouched for a prolonged period of time so I’m going to finish this entry about moving houses before scrambling to do my advertorial. Here’s what I’ve been through the past 2 weeks..

Where it all began:

Sam dumping our stuff into big black bags. I was too emo and moping around in disbelief, to even begin packing till the very last minute. My idea of packing = grab whatever I can, shove them into bags until the bags threaten to break under pressure. Sounds easy but you would never imagine the amount of shit I have in my room!!! After throwing away lots, I’m still left with plenty.

And yes, Sam drew that picture of us that’s hanging on the wall…. but the frame came loose and it dangled sideways for a year.

Stuff on the floor.

More stuff sprawled across the bed. Yikes!!!

The only beauty I can find about moving houses (involuntarily) is discovering hidden gems. Look at this queer drawing I did back in high school. As in literally in math class I sat down and drew this. When everyone else was doing algebra, this was the kind of entertainment I’d fill my time with. Whatta freak lol. The words read: “I would like to have you for dinner…”

Clearly, I was a very disturbed child. X_X

The old house looking like a riot place as everyone madly runs about packing everything into bags and boxes….

It broke my heart to see all our nice things being put into cardboard boxes. :(

I know there weren’t going to be thrown away, but instead moved to a new home, but still….. I can’t help!!! I really do have attachment issues. This was the only home I’ve ever truly known. Well it is the first, but I know it won’t be the last.

My last night sleeping in that bed and room.

…When I wake up tomorrow, life will be different.

For the record, this is what I used to wake up to every morning!

My old room’s tiny innit? On the top green shelf there used to be mountain of soft toys, but by the time I took this picture most of my belongings were cleared. Sam’s widescreen com on the left, my square-ish one on the right. I prefer screens that aren’t too big so I don’t have to move my head when I’m looking at the computer.

This is me punishing my mum for making us move out, by having her carry my heavy boxes around.

Lol just kidding I’m not an imbecile. She just offered to help with that one particular box and didn’t lift a finger after that…

Speaking of my mother, I burst out laughing when I saw this old picture of her we uncovered whilst moving. She was 20 in the picture, and I am 20 now. I can see a MILD resemblance… do you? The lips (thin upper lip, thicker lower lip that juts out a bit) and almond shaped eyes eyes, mostly. Her nose is sharper than mine and my jawline is a lot more angular.

I’m looking at her lashes wondering if they’re real or photoshopped or what!!! I don’t know if they had photoshop or fake lashes back then O.O

I literally said out loud “Bye bye my room… I will miss you.” and everyone laughed. Why doesn’t anyone take me seriously???

Look at it.. its so bright, colorful and happy looking! Just like a kids room which I love coz some times I still feel like 10 years old. I miss my green shelves, purple table and bright yellow walls!

I also especially miss my traffic-light lookalike lights. They used a dimmer switch which is an AMAZINGLY underrated feature in houses.. all new age condos and private houses should install dimmer lights. Being able to adjust the amount of light intensity according to your mood seriously rocks.

As we were driving away in Simei for one last time, I tried to take a picture of Savannah Condo Park during a red light stop from the outside for keeps sake but this KNNB lorry decided to drive into my frame at the last split second my shutter went off. I didn’t even see it coming. Couldn’t resnap the shot because the traffic lights turned green…

 Oh well.

First few days of moving was Ikea hell. Needed to get new stuff for the house but it happened to the weekend AND a public holiday for Deepavali…. We were swimming in crowds of people!!!

The new place:

For those of you who don’t know yet, I chose the Yishun condo in the end.

I would like to sincerely say a big thank you to every single person who has taken the time to leave me a comment on my blog posts or writing me emails to help me gain different perspectives on the situation, and giving me your 2 cents on the situation. Thank you for sharing your own stories, and for giving me the encouragement I badly needed.

You guys get me!

Someone told me, a home is not just a house. A home should be somewhere beautiful and comfortable where you can look forward to coming back to after a long day of work, a place where relationships grow and memories can be made. That really hit home with me.

So I’ve decided to stay in a totally new neighbourhood, Yishun (kind of in the middle of nowhere really) despite Novena offering extreme convenience. After all, what the hell would I do if I can’t bake or cook?!?! Although I wouldn’t call this place my ideal home or the epitome of comfort I’m quite happy to make the most out of what I have here. :)

Ta-dah. My new room at Yishun!!!! I got the master bedroom with a king sized bed and an ensuite bathroom, hallelujah!! This was the first night so it looks very bare.

I didn’t cry the first night sleeping here, like I thought I would. Ok maybe crying is a bit dramatic but I thought I would at least not be able to sleep properly… turns out I slept just fine despite the foreign environment because this king sized bed is actually damn comfortable o.o

After staying here a whole week, here’s how my room looks right now!
As a reader on Formspring requested: HOUSE TOUR TIME!!!! Welcome to my new place!

I’ve finished packing my clothes but there are still boxes of bags, trinkets, accessories and cosmetics to be unloaded neatly… phew... one step at a time!

My luscious king sized bed and pretty purple silk sheets which I get to relish every night, and my black and white furry bed guardians watching over me. They all have P names, just so you know.

Phillip (the biggest, the original.. and the dirtiest haha), Ping (the china looking one), and the tiny ones are Poing, Peanut, Paella, Parsley, Pepperoni, Potato, Pizza, Pineapple and Pumpkin!!! :D Unfortunately there is one penguin missing in this photo (11 in total) because I brought him out the other day and forgot to take him out of my bag still.

There is so much more S.P.A.C.E in my new room!!!

I can actually WALK around freely despite fitting a huge bed in it…. ahhhh. I try to focus on the good parts about my new place as much as possible, and have almost gotten over my break up with Savannah. Always look on the bright side of life!

Where I’m sitting now talking (typing?) to you guys!!!

My tiny computer desk which I bought from Ikea without measuring properly. Think I might have to go get a new one because this is annoyingly small.

Check out my wardrobe!!! It’s damn bigggg balllzz, and there’s TWO of the same sized wardrobes available.

So happy!!!!

Even has extra space to hang Sam’s blazers for him. It’s a helluva lot easier for me to find outfits these days. Previously I had to fold a lot of my clothes and folded clothes are a pain in the ass to take out and put back.

I mean I still have a decent amount of folded clothes in both wardrobes, but being able to hang that much clothes is a new luxury to me.

Take a peek inside my drawers, and you’ll find….

Forbidden stuff. Woops LOL. I may just be the first blogger in Singapore to publicly publicize her panties and bras on her blog. How???? Controversial and scandalous enough for you?

Told you I would make up for my absence in blogging.

Next drawer down is a lot more toned down.

Color pencils, books and stuff from when I used to be 13, pimply, bespectacled and absolutely alone in life besides these books I would escape into, wishing reality wasn’t real. I would stay up till 4am reading book after book in wide eyed wonder… these are some favorites I just had to keep.

Several display items that are close to my heart :)

I actually have A LOT of display items but I don’t have enough space to keep em so I’ve put away 80% of them in the store room in boxes… Amazingly enough in the 3 years I’ve had that killer whale photo frame, I never bothered to put my photo in it. I guess I like looking at it just as is. Some day I’ll finally have a photo of me interacting with killers in there!!!

A closer look at Baby Shiberty. Hehehe.

…I was so cute… mama, what happened to me???

This part, I thought some girls might be curious enough to wanna see :) A box of body lotions, contact lenses, a purple Prada purse, scrubs…

My sunglasses (mostly hidden unfortunately) and bangles collection! I prefer wearing bangles to bracelets because you just slip them on and go. I don’t like fiddling with hooks and stuff that slips around in my hands.

Lots and lots of hairbands, hair ties and clips!!! I love hair accessories!

One of my three drawers filled with crazy & beautiful necklaces. Am a neck piece kinda girl.

My bedside: Phillip, products I use often, my DSLR, a polaroid cam, Sam’s glasses & passport. No idea what the last two were doing there.

My own bathroom!!! Weeeeeee I hate sharing toilets with other people so this is a god send.

I’ve got a bath tub but haven’t soaked in yet because the faucet looks so oldddd and ancient I’m afraid of what would come out of it. Lol. I look forward to dressing this bathroom up with romantic candles over the course of this week, though! :D Then I’ll have a warm, bubbly soak.

The shower area, and a reflection of the toilet bowl. I like the marble flooring.

So, the only real complain I have about my new room…. is the window / view!!!! I only have one window in the room and it looks like this:

These blinds are so ugly, and old!

They might not look so bad in pictures but wait till you try working them. They don’t even go up or down properly any more. I wanna replace them with flowy lacey curtains, but then realized why the original owners (this is a rented place) installed blinds instead of curtains which are a more “open” concept…

The view is HOW uninspiring... LOL……. yeah, I’ll keep those blinds, thanks.

So sad lor!!! At Savannah I was spoiled with views of the PIE and lush greenery and fountains, here I’m looking at an unfinished construction site. *sighs* However, this does mean that this house keeps very cool in the afternoons, unlike my old place which had a lot of glass windows that did provide great views and sunlight but made the house feel like a green house every single day.

Also, I’m not sure where to store my hand bags.

Right now they’re just sitting in a pile beside my bed. How DO girls normally store their bags??? I’d assume their wardrobe is completely filled with clothes. I know people with the luxury of a looott of space can easily find a place for their bags, but even though I said this room is big, its not really big enough to house a huge shelf especially for bags. :/

Ready to see the rest of the house?! :D

Our glass coffee table and the two humble couches. On the left is this lousy pok hard couch they left us with, on the right is a red couch we brought over from the old home which is covered mostly by… Oops, my giant killer whale Tilikum and Abby Bear… coz I haven’t found a place for them yet… I might be throwing Abby Bear out (sniffles. had to dispose of a lot of my things) and suspend Tilikum from the ceiling in my room just like my old place.

The whole living room area! Very spacious indeed. I’d love to have guests come over soon!!!! I can’t wait to host an advanced Christmas party here. I’ve already bought a festive bright red cake stand and I’m going to make a beautiful red velvet cake for my guests to go “oooh” and “Ahhh” at… omg I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!! This year I’m going to Bali with my family for X’mas! :D

The dining table they provided us with.

Meh, it’s a rented place so I’m not gonna bother about the dining table as long as I can eat off it and it doesn’t make me cringe too much.. but that thing hanging on the wall is so ugly!!! And kind of disturbing. Looks like torture devices or a really old sewing technique of sorts. Anyone know what it is?

My brother and Sam aren’t home so I couldn’t ask for their permissions to take pictures of their rooms but what the hell I’m going to do it anyway. This is my brother’s room. Most guys have utterly boring rooms.

And this is Sam’s! I gave him that domokun and scrumps toy :)

The kitchen is TINY and it gets really warm because not enough breezes come by. The only saving grace is the built in oven!!!

The fridge, however, is rather big. Haven’t stocked up on groceries just yet, had to throw away all my sauces and marinades in my old fridge which we left behind T____T

We have an enormous amount of butter because of my baking! All that much beer belongs to my Australian boyfriend Sam… you know, Aussies and their alcohol.

Most guests at our old place were amused with this pile of my baking supplies! Pull open those drawers and you’ll find bags of flour, cake decorating tools, piping tips… very fun to play with!!!

Well that brings us to the end of my new house tour! The pool area downstairs is actually quite nice and reminds me just a little of my old condo, but I decided against posting pictures in the end because I don’t want too many people to know where exactly I’m staying in case they recognize it. I have a tendency to walk around my condo in my PJs sometimes hahaha. All I can say is I live quite near Yishun MRT! And even though Yishun is MILES away from anywhere except Northpoint, the heartland shopping centre, Northpoint is actually pretty cool. A range of restaurants to choose from (so much better than my old Eastpoint wtf) and a Party World KTV andddd a Golden Village cinema!!! Hurrah!!!!

And I actually live much closer now to a number of friends, to their delight. Because of this I’ve been having more suppers as they drive and pick us up to have yummeh food at 11pm… oh no! Both a good and bad thing.

I’m going to embrace this change of life. Thank you for being here with me. Talk to you guys soon.

Jess
